Jacob Buehler (M)

     Jacob was born at Barry Co., Michigan, on 1 March 1853.1,2 He was the son of Conrad Buehler and Anna Marie Anweiler. He married Maria "Mary" Catherine Raab in April 1875.1,2 Jacob died on 23 June 1905, at St. Lukes Hospital, surgery, at Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington, at age 52. According to his obituary, Jacob died after "undergoing an operation" at St. Luke's Hospital in Spokane. "Apparently he was not in bad health. Accompanied by Mrs. Buehler, he went to Spokane the day previous to consult a physician.".1,3 His body was interred on 25 June 1905 at Ritzville, Adams Co., Washington, at German Methodist Cemetery. Jacob was interned in the family plot in the German Methodist Cemetery, southeast of Ritzville, WA. Rev. Carl Jans officiated at 2:00 p.m., from the "German church . . . burial was given in the church cemetery." His brother, Adam, was the only sibling to attend the funeral, which was also attended by his widow and his eight children.
The church no longer stands; the cemetery had fallen into a long period of disrepair, but was cleaned up in 1989 by the Washington State Centennial Commission. The Buehler family plot is covered with a concrete slab.
After Jacob's death, Adam's mother, Anna Marie, resided with them in Connell until her death on March 20, 1906..3
